Technology & Government: A Conversation about Bridging the Gap
Brad Simonich, Borbála Szücs-Bártfai

With European regulation developing over the past five years to include the General Data Protection
Regulation, AI ACT, Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act, government leaders in Brussels have
been taking a lot of steps to regulate technology. In an era where innovation is key to economic growth
around the world, the unique relationship between technology and policy, and the way they interact,
has become a central facet of the growth of the app economy around the world.
As more regulations continue to emerge, it’s important to examine the role of technology SMEs in
ensuring that policymakers understand how they will be impacted. In this session, we will examine how
entrepreneurs grow their businesses in Europe as well as how to strike the right balance between
policies rewarding and inspiring innovation while also continuing to protect consumers.
